Peabody's master of education program in Secondary Education is designed to allow secondary teachers of any subject the opportunity to develop their skills in curriculum and instructional leadership, while exploring advanced content and teaching techniques in their area of specialization. Programs of study are planned on consultation with the student's adviser and can be highly individualized to meet individual needs and career goals.
Teaching Related Coursework (9 semester hours)
Students may choose to complete additional coursework from the Professional Education Core and/or in courses within a specific teaching field (English Education, Foreign Language Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, or Social Studies Education).
Electives (12 semester hours)
The coursework for the degree may be distributed to fit the student's personal needs and career goals as long as the focus is on teaching roles rather than those such as school administration or curriculum leadership.
The total program for this major should be planned in consultation with the student's adviser early in course of study.
