Reaching out: professors and students engage with communities near and far
The Center for Community Studies awards small grants to support research contributing to community well-being and individual scholarly advancement. The goal of the grant process is the nurturance of community research by both faculty and graduate students who may have limited funding opportunities. The grants are intended to support research that will stimulate subsequent external funding. All students at the graduate level, junior faculty, and senior faculty at Vanderbilt University are eligible.
In 2007, the Center for Community Studies awarded grants to fund five community research projects:
