The Office of External Relations holds responsibility for the communication between Peabody and various constituencies. We take as our goal the delivery of strategic messages on behalf of the college.

External Relations integrates the efforts of several functional areas for the purpose of developing a comprehensive program to strengthen Peabody’s position nationally. Specifically we are charged with:

• providing strategic and tactical leadership for all aspects of external relations and marketing that support the public relations, student recruitment, fund raising, community relations, alumni relations, and government relations objectives of Peabody College
• developing strategies and programs that will position Peabody to attract and retain highly qualified students and ensure Peabody’s place as a leader in the field of education and human development
• reviewing Peabody’s external relations and public affairs efforts to ensure the linkage of each with college initiatives
• integrating the college and university-wide public affairs efforts in a manner which is mutually beneficial

The office serves the interest of college faculty in a number of ways, including working to place stories in the mass media, facilitating the design of department print pieces and electronic mailings, featuring faculty work in college publications, and managing the college’s Web site.
