Peabody Welcomes Edmund S. Muskie Fellows
Tennessee offers alternative, Type I or Type II licenses to college graduates who have not completed professional preparation for teaching, but who have been offered teaching positions in Tennessee. These alternative licenses enable college graduates to teach in school systems that cannot find sufficient numbers of licensed teachers. In Tennessee, these licenses require eventual completion of program and testing requirements to qualify for a full teaching license. Peabody licensure programs and course work/field work requirements are not designed to accommodate those who are already teaching on an alternative license. Peabody licensure programs require program completion that includes full time student or intern teaching prior to employment.
