The Infant Learning Lab investigates the early development of motor and perceptual abilities. We also study the ways in which infants' prior experiences with objects or actions affect their subsequent perception of objects or actions. Our research asks questions about the ways in which infants encode and represent the world around them as well as the ways in which new forms of actions set the stage for new forms of learning.
Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Amy Needham's research has explored many questions in our three main areas of study. One question that has been of interest to her for a number of years is how infants find boundaries around objects. Her current questions particularly focus on perceptual and motor learning in infancy.
