Special Education Researchers Receive Grants from NICHD, IES; Seethaler Wins CEC Award
The Department of Special Education announces full-time funding for training persons to work with general education teachers who have students with disabilities in their classrooms. The program is designed for individuals with bachelor's degrees in either special education or general education, but all interested individuals are encouraged to apply.
Students will receive funding for up to 39 credit hours and a monthly stipend. The program is a 4-semester program. Students may begin in the summer, fall, or spring semesters. Upon completion, students will be recommended for licensure in the area of high incidence disabilities in the state of Tennessee.
Program activities include: (a) research based course work in special education and ELL; (b) field-based experiences in classrooms with students with high incidence disabilities; and (c) opportunities to work on research projects.
All students must hold a bachelor's degree and meet Peabody College admissions. In order to be considered for funding from a federally funded training grant, students must be citizens of the U.S. or permanent residents.
Inquiries regarding the application process should be made to our admissions coordinator, Jennifer Hinton, at 615-322-8195. Specific information regarding this grant can be made to Kim Paulsen.
