Teacher Training

The Susan Gray School's inclusive classroom and outreach programs support the training efforts of Vanderbilt University and Peabody College in a variety of ways. Undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of special education, early childhood education, teaching and learning, nursing, psychiatry, speech and hearing, engineering, business, and music use the Susan Gray School for observations, practicum and field experience placements, and assignment completion. Peabody faculty use the school as a training site for instructional strategies and practices. Several Susan Gray School lead teachers are graduate students in early childhood special education and also serve as cooperating teachers for practicum placements.

Other educational institutions also use the Susan Gray School as a site for training and internships. In recent years, the school hosted students from Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University, Appalachian State University, De Pauw University, Harpeth Hall School, St. Cecilia Academy, and University School of Nashville. International students from Sweden, Portugal, and Egypt have also gained field experience at Susan Gray School.
