Reasons to Brag
- U.S. News & World Report has again ranked Peabody among the top five graduate schools of education in the nation. The college has been included in the top five for the last three years. Of the top five schools, Peabody had the most programs with top ten rankings:
Special Education, 1st
Administration/Supervision, 2nd
Curriculum/Instruction,7th
Educational Psychology, 10th
Education Policy, 6th
Elementary Education, 6th
Higher Education Administration, 10th
- A new national research and development center has been created at Peabody College. It was established through a $10 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Sciences. Researchers will focus on answering one of the thorniest questions in education policy: Do financial incentives for teachers, administrators, and schools affect student achievement? The college is now home to three national education research centers.
- President Bush nominated Peabody College's Dean Camilla Benbow to the National Science Board, an independent body that oversees the National Science Foundation. The nomination was approved by the Senate in October.
