Vicki Harris, Ph.D.

Vicki HarrisVicki Harris completed her Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies and Child Clinical Psychology from Penn State University in 1991. Upon completing her degree and clinical internship at the Yale Child Study Center, she began her journey at Vanderbilt University as a post-doctoral fellow in Developmental Psychopathology. She joined the faculty in Psychology and Human Development in 1993, first engaged in the design, implementation, and direction of independent and collaborative research programs targeting the application of evidence-based, school- and home-based, mental health services for at-risk children and adolescents with behavioral disorders, and emotion regulation and psychopathology. Vicki took on the challenge of creating and leading the Child Studies M.Ed. program in the Department of Psychology and Human Development and has served as the program’s director since its inception in 2003. 


Nina C. Martin, Ed.D.

Nina MartinNina Martin completed her doctoral degree in Human Development and Psychology at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education in 1998. Upon graduation, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Developmental Psychopathology at Vanderbilt University, followed by a post as a research assistant professor at the Institute of Juvenile Research at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Returning to Vanderbilt in 2006, she teaches both in the Human Development Counseling Master’s program, where she trains students in the clinical mental health and school counseling tracks, and in the Child Studies Master’s program, where she has directed the Empirical Research Track since 2013. Her research interests include adolescent depression, longitudinal research methods, and the design and application of school- and community-based intervention and prevention efforts to enhance the well-being of children, adolescents, and families.
