Reading Education School Partnerships & Collaborations

Nashville
The Reading Education program has partnered with a variety of Metro Nashville Public Schools. Students complete internships with reading specialists and literacy coaches at the following schools:

Secondary Elementary

 Apollo Middle School   Una Elementary School
 Cameron Middle Prep  Eakin Elementary School
 Wright Middle School       Dan Mills Elementary School

During the summer of 2016, a Reading M.Ed. student collaborated with Horizons at University School of Nashville to examine assessment and curriculum alignment for the program.

New Orleans
We’ve also partnered with the New Orleans charter school Cypress Academy.  During the summer of 2015, a group of four Reading M.Ed. students went to New Orleans to work with Cypress Academy students. During the summer of 2016, one Peabody professor, two Metro Nashville partner literacy coaches, and three Reading M.Ed. students travelled to New Orleans to lead professional development sessions on Readers' and Writers' Workshop, to work with students to design next-step instruction, to observe and coach teachers, and to facilitate a parent workshop entitled Summer Reading and Writing Activities: Preventing Summer Slide.

Memphis
In October 2015, Reading M.Ed. students travelled to Memphis to assist GRAD Academy faculty with reading assessments.
