Milner presented AACTE Outstanding Book Award
The institute begins on Monday, June 11, 2012, and runs through Friday, June 15, 2012. The program combines presentations by leading higher education policymakers and scholars with directed case study examinations that showcase the impact of theory on the day-to-day management and decision making of college and university leaders.
Individual sessions consist of in-depth explorations of each of the functional areas of university management, discussions surrounding the application of theoretical literature to the practice of college and university management, and group discussion/presentations. During the course of the institute, participants will spend considerable time engaged in small group analysis of case studies designed to integrate lectures and discussions. This experience will allow each participant to discover, develop, and refine individual competencies.
The summer institute is an intensive experience designed to challenge participants intellectually. Each participant will receive reading materials prior to the institute with which they should be familiar upon arrival. Effective preparation will ensure a rewarding experience for all participants. Total preparation time includes approximately fifteen hours of reading. Additionally, in order to tailor the institute to those in the cohort, a brief questionnaire will be distributed concerning current issues facing the participant’s home institution.
