Camilla Benbow: Summer learning options affordable
New Peabody graduates fill teaching roles in Nashville’s lowest-performing middle schools
Commencement 2012 Recap
The institute begins on Sunday and runs through Thursday. The program contains two instructional components: lectures, presentations and speakers which comprise two thirds of the institute’s activities; and group work focused on case study analyses and preparation for the following day’s activities. (View the agenda from the 2009 Institute.)
Individual sessions consist of in-depth examinations of each of the functional areas of university management, discussions surrounding the application of theoretical literature to the practice of institutional advancement, and group discussion/presentations. During the course of the institute, participants will spend considerable time engaged in small group analysis designed to integrate lectures and discussions. This experience will allow each participant to discover, develop, and refine individual competencies.
The summer institute is an intensive experience designed to challenge participants intellectually. Each participant will receive materials prior to the institute with which they should be familiar upon arrival. Effective preparation will ensure a rewarding experience for all participants. Total preparation time includes approximately 10 hours of reading. Additionally, in order to tailor the institute to those in the cohort, a brief questionnaire will be distributed concerning current issues facing the participant’s home institution.
