Ana Maria Brannan, Ph.D., is a Senior Research Associate at the Center for Evaluation and Program Improvement. She has been conducting children's mental health services research since 1989. Dr. Brannan has been particularly interested in the role of the family in children's mental health services. She completed her pre-doctoral training in public policy at Vanderbilt University, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at Rutgers' Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research. In the last several years, Dr. Brannan has been conducting research on children's mental health and substance abuse services and the family, child, provider, and system factors that influence utilization patterns and outcomes. In particular, she is applying a variety of techniques (e.g., structural equations modeling, linear and logistic regression) to model differences in service use patterns and predictive factors for children served in a variety of service systems including fee-for-service private insurance, traditional Medicaid, clinically case managed continuum of care, and Medicaid managed care.
