Revolutionizing Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services: Bringing CFIT to Scale (01/08 - 05/10) Funded by the Leon Lowenstein Foundation, this project is dedicated to the advancement of the CFIT software, the creation of a training CD with case studies that demonstrate the use of CFIT in clinical practice, and the development of an implementation tool-kit. Through these developments, we will prepare CFIT for widespread dissemination. This study relies on a mixed-method approach that includes semi-structured interviews with counselors and their supervisors, organizational case studies, quantitative profile analysis, interviews with the key change agents, and historical document review. Leonard Bickman, Katherine Taylor Haynes, Co-PIs; Susan Douglas Kelley, Investigator ($250K)

Leonard Bickman, Susan Douglas Kelley, Co-PIs ($1.0M)
Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) (10/07 - 10/12) This major award ($40M) from the National Center for Research Resources of the NIH will help create a Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (VICTR) to provide support for faculty working to translate fundamental scientific discoveries into clinical practice with the goal to measurably improve population health. Improving Principal Leadership Through Feedback and Coaching (03/07 - 02/11) Funded by the Institute of Education Services, this multi-phase randomized longitudinal study is based on mixed method research design. An intervention comprised of systematic and constructive feedback from teachers to principals, and systematic coaching on how to use feedback information, will be tested in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System. The intervention is intended to improve leadership and demonstrate a causal connection between improved leadership and student achievement. Leonard Bickman, Ellen Goldring, Co-PIs ($2.0M)

Using Baby Books to Promote Maternal and Child Health (4/05 - 1/10) Funded by the National Institute of Child and Human Development, the project will provide an intervention, in the form of baby books, designed to educate and persuade mothers to follow the anticipatory guidance advocated by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The books are designed to educate mothers on child development and childhood injury prevention, promote reading and better health practices, and provide opportunities for high quality mother-child interactions. Primiparious women in their third trimester of pregnancy will be recruited for the study and retained until their child is 18 months old. Leonard Bickman, PI; ($1.2m)
