This month the Education Schools Project released Educating Researchers, third in a series of reports from a four-year study of education schools in this country. Written by Arthur Levine, president of The Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation and president emeritus of Columbia University's Teachers College, the report analyzes "how best to prepare education researchers, the next generation of scholars, to study education and to teach in the nation's universities and colleges."
"Part II: An Excellent Program" highlights Peabody's doctoral program in special education as a model program. This case study outlines such areas as the program's stated goals, admissions standards, faculty productivity, and research opportunities and expectations, among others, and details how Peabody achieves excellence in each.
The report was released May 12 at the Education Writers Association’s annual meeting in Los Angeles. The previous two reports in the series were "Educating Leaders" and "Educating Teachers."
