Professor Capizzi has taught students with emotional/behavioral difficulties and learning disabilities in schools in Virginia and Minnesota. During her teaching career, Professor Capizzi has taught in urban and suburban schools; worked with elementary and middle school students with learning and behavioral difficulties in itinerant, resource and self-contained settings; taught preschool and Kindergarten-aged students in a specialized program for children with challenging behavior and their families; and been a behavioral specialist for an early intervention team.
Her past work in the practice of special education allows her to apply this knowledge and experience to her classes in teacher preparation. Professor Capizzi’s primary interests lie in the areas of teacher training, behavioral management and bridging research to practice. Professor Capizzi teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in classroom management and field experiences.
