Welcome to the Child Studies Program

Students observe a child at play

I am very pleased to welcome you to the Child Studies Program. With its focus on the psychological development of the child, from birth to adulthood, with a special emphasis on the implications of what we know about the developing child for both teaching and learning, we anticipate that your participation in this program not only will teach you about our latest scientific understanding of these important topics, but also will be of considerable use to you in both your personal life and your professional life, if you pursue any career that involves working with or for children in any sort of educational context. I also hope that during your participation in the program, perhaps even as early as the second semester of your first year, you will consider working individually with one of our faculty members on their cutting-edge research. High quality collaborative research between our students and faculty is a hallmark of the Child Studies Program of which we are extremely proud.

This page contains links to all the information you should need to register, in an informed manner, for your first semester of coursework in the Child Studies Program. I hope that you will find this information useful as you make you initial course selections for the Fall. If you find that you have any questions about your course selections, please feel free to contact me either by e-mail or phone. In the meantime, I would like to wish you the very best as you make your course selections, and I very much look forward to meeting you when you arrive on campus in August!
