At Peabody College, I learned how to provide transformative experiences for my mathematics students. I gained real experience working with students from a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences, which I then took into my current job as a middle school teacher in a high-poverty-rate district. I got to work with instructors who had expertise not only in their subject area but also in meeting the particular needs of the students I was working with.
Peabody is different because not only are the expectations higher, but the support, experience, and level of instruction are vastly higher than any other program I am aware of. My professors inspired me to find new, rich, and meaningful ways of teaching mathematics that I hadn’t experienced myself as a student. This gave me the confidence I needed to step into the classroom and provide high-quality instruction on day one.
