Ashley A. Jones

Ashley Jones is a doctoral student in the department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations, focusing on K-12 Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. She is interested in researching academic achievement gap closure for students of color and low SES students, specifically how implementing comprehensive social services within schools can impact racial disparities in academic achievement.
Prior to entering the Ph.D. program, she worked at a charter school in St. Louis, MO as a community outreach specialist on the social work team where she connected students with mental health, dental, and vision resources and implemented programs to improve attendance. She has also worked in National Urban League’s Education and Youth Development Division, was an AmeriCorps VISTA with a local nonprofit in St. Louis, and worked with Salvation Army’s Social Services Department.
She received both her bachelor's degree in Urban Studies and Master of Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis.
