- In the spring of 2013, twelve students took part in the design of an expansion to the public library's existing teen center. Working with local architects and members of SLAM, the students sought to design a space that would include gaming, making, writing, and music as core components. Over twelve weeks, the students took part in a variety of architecture activities, ranging from walking tours in the downtown area, to the use of Minecraft for design purposes. Additionally, they worked with large-scale floorplans and "trash" paper as they envisioned the lighting, sound, and flows of people to develop their ideas. Finally, in March of 2013, all participants presented their designed space to members of the library's learning lab committee.
