Published August 14, 2017
David Lubinski, professor of psychology and co-director of the Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth at Peabody College, has been awarded the American Psychological Association’s 2017 George A. Miller Award for Outstanding Article in General Psychology.
The award recognizes Lubinski’s article “From Terman to today: A century of findings on intellectual precocity,” which was published in the Review of Educational Research in 2016. The article reviews major scientific findings on intellectual precocity over the past 100 years (1916–2016), “painting a portrait of an extraordinary source of human capital and the kinds of learning opportunities needed to facilitate exceptional accomplishments, life satisfaction, and positive growth,” according to the article’s abstract.
Lubinski will deliver an invited address based on the award-winning article at the APA’s annual convention in August 2018 in San Francisco.
