Patterson Literacy Fellow

The Fellows Program is a selective opportunity for students Peabody Masters students to take on a sustained role in partner schools. Fellows will work alongside students in grades 4–8, contributing to a new tutoring and instructional lab while also helping us better understand how literacy instruction can be strengthened in real classrooms.

Fellows will:

Commit to working 2 years in the center (meaning that your program needs to be 2 years and not 1 year)

Provide targeted literacy support to students through the Tutoring and Instructional Lab

Work in partnership with local schools to support instruction and student learning

Collect and reflect on student literacy data to inform instruction

Contribute to a growing research-practice partnership focused on grades 4–8 literacy

Engage in ongoing professional learning and mentorship

Receive 50% tuition remission for 9 credit hours a semester.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education or related field is required.

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are necessary.

Excellent communication and teamwork are required.

Experience working in upper elementary and/or middle schools is preferred but not required.

Must have reliable transportation.

Must have at least 4 mornings (8am - noon) and 4 afternoons (noon - 4pm) of availability to work during normal school hours.

Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.

Ability to speak, read, and write proficiently in English.
