In the fall of 2019, we brought district teams together in each region of Tennessee to learn about research on teacher diversity in the state, take a deep look at district data on teacher diversity, and discuss how the state and school districts can better recruit, retain, and support teachers of color.
Vanderbilt University's Dr. Jason Grissom presented his work on turnover and retention patterns among teachers of color. Indira Dammu of the Tennessee Educators of Color Alliance also discussed her research highlighting the experiences of educators of color in the state.
