Andre Carter
Class of 2022
c/o 2022
Hailing from McKenzie, Tennessee, Andre is a rising sophomore enrolled through Next Steps at Vanderbilt. During his first year, he loved working at the Sarratt Art Studio and said, “I enjoyed drawing and looking at art.” His coursework so far has been focused on music and special education. When he graduates, Andre wants to be a guide at an art museum, professional artist, writer of poems and songs, sports strategist, landscaper, or special education communicator.
“The experience of having Andre in my SPEDS 2430 course this past fall was a wonderful experience all around. Andre collaborated with and supported his peers during in-class activities, he asked pertinent questions to enhance his understanding of class topics, and he actively participated in course requirements. I will always remember my experience with Andre. He brought a wonderful energy to the class, and his engaging and cheerful personality kept us interested in what he wanted to share. As a faculty member, I would highly recommend that other faculty consider supporting Next Steps by opening their doors to all students. What a great opportunity!”
