As a future physician, I gained a new perspective on how the many different aspects of a learning environment impact a student's professional identity along the spectrum to becoming a physician.
The Learning and Design program gave me the opportunity to link the theoretical underpinnings of teaching and learning with individually-tailored practical experiences. I was introduced to qualitative research methods, an essential tool in my ongoing research efforts to understand how medical schools might better support minoritized students. Learning and Design laid the foundation for my future career as a medical educator.
