Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Postdoctoral Scholar, Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations
Kristen Carroll is an Institute of Education Sciences (IES) postdoctoral scholar at Vanderbilt University. Trained as a Political Scientist with a focus in Public Administration and Public Policy, she seeks to identify education policies and leadership approaches that are related to equitable student outcomes. She is committed to improving student achievement and well-being by pursuing an understanding of the diverse approaches to education policies.
Dr. Carroll has published a number of articles on the racial and gender composition of the educator workforce, the use of district resources to improve the effectiveness of racially diverse educators, and the implications of gendered educator career paths on future policy. Her work has appeared in the American Review of Public Administration, Public Performance and Management Review, and Politics, Groups, and Identities.
Dr. Carroll received a Ph.D. in Political Science from Texas A&M University. She received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Louisiana State University.
