Under the supervision of Dr. Kate Humphreys, the individual in this position will have primary responsibility for administrative assistance to the lab manager. Responsibilities include assisting with onboarding and offboarding of research assistants, maintenance of lab space and equipment, project reporting support, and assistance with the development and curation of laboratory manuals and processes. Responsibilities may also include recruitment, screening, enrollment, and scheduling study visits for longitudinal research studies involving pregnant individuals and their young children (<18 months). A successful individual will have strong organization skills, be outgoing, have strong interpersonal skills, be detail oriented, and be comfortable working with and speaking to parents with diverse backgrounds. This position may require monitoring Gmail, google voice, and text messages both during work hours as well as during weekends and evenings to make sure that we communicate quickly and effectively with study participants. An ideal candidate would remain in the position for at least 2 years. While interest in science is desirable, no experience in scientific research is required.
Key Functions and Expected Performance: - Assist with day-to-day laboratory oversight, including maintaining laboratory space, infrastructure, and equipment - Assist with the development and maintenance of lab operation/protocols - Assist with recruitment of new staff, onboarding, and supervision of research assistants - Assist with lab meeting scheduling and upkeep of lab website - Assist with post-study activities, as needed, including project reporting, and institutional review board submissions - Recruitment and screening of participants - Maintain a complex schedule of longitudinal (and multi-part) study visits for a large cohort of participants - Problem solve challenges related to recruitment, screening, and scheduling - Monitor participant emails, calls, and texts for research studies - Maintain databases for participant recruitment and tracking - Monitor recruitment progress and troubleshoot areas of concern or deviation - Perform general administrative duties related to recruitment, enrollment, and scheduling
Experience and Skills: - Proficiency working with Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) or similar programs with high level of comfort and knowledge of spreadsheet programs - Expected to have a strong work ethic, high integrity, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Must be organized, detail oriented, and able to function well independently - Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance - Experience recruiting and scheduling participants for research study visits is a plus but not required - Ability to work outside of normal business hours to accommodate the families we work with and respond to messages from participants is required
