Christine Quinn Trank

Associate Professor of the Practice of Organization Leadership, Dept. of Leadership, Policy & Organizations

Professor Quinn Trank received a Ph.D. in Business Administration from The University of Iowa, with a focus in Organizational Behavior and Organization Theory. She worked in academic administration for several years at The University of Iowa, and has been on the faculty at The University of Iowa and Texas Tech University.

Quinn Trank's research concerns the institutional environment of organizations and occupations. A particular focus of her research has been the institutional environment of education, including the integration of new ideas into textbooks as well as the "de-professionalization" of business education. Most recently, she has studied the role of rhetoric in the process of developing organizational identity in the face of large-scale change. Her work has been published in the Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Learning and Education, Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies, Journal of Business and Psychology, and Advances in Strategic Management.

Quinn Trank is the editor of the Academy of Management Learning and Education journal, and is former editor of Journal of Management Inquiry and associate editor of Academy of Management Review.  In addition to her work as editor she serves on the editorial board of Academy of Management Discoveries.  Quinn Trank teaches in the areas of Organizational Behavior and Theory as well as Leadership, fields in which she has been recognized with both teaching and service awards.  A paper she co-authored with Sara Rynes is one of the top 10 most-cited papers in Academy of Management Learning and Education.
