Program Overview
A rigorous and integrated program, the Human Development Studies (HDS) Organizational specialization will help you acquire a strong theoretical grounding in human development, relational paradigms, and change strategies. Courses offered in the Human Development Studies program are designed to foster close working relationships with faculty and a personalized approach, resulting in productive classroom experiences.
HDS graduates are prepared to work as professionals in schools, agencies, businesses, and organizations providing human development services to help individuals across the lifespan navigate challenges. This training will also prepare graduates to continue their academic careers in doctoral programs related to human development and services. Requirements encompass a 30-semester-hour curriculum focusing on human development theory, strategic engagement and management, diversity and equity, and organizational performance and evaluation. Intended for flexibility, the HDS program can be completed in two, three, or four semesters.

Program Curriculum
This 30-credit-hour curriculum can be completed in less than two years or in a single year if summer courses are available. Course placement within the schedule is flexible. Students can begin the program in the fall or summer semesters.
Students take one foundational course together in the Fall, Becoming a Change Agent. With flexibility to tailor their coursework to their individual passions, students will also complete one theory course, two methodology courses, three practice courses, and three electives.
