Applied Behavior Analysis Online Overview

The online M.Ed. program in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) offers rigorous preparation for individuals pursuing ABA careers in educational settings such as clinics and schools. Students learn

  • The philosophical underpinnings of behavior analysis,
  • basic concepts and principles of behavior change,
  • applications of relevant concepts and principles to develop behavior assessment and behavior change procedures,
  • and considerations for selecting and implementing interventions.

Students receive hands-on training in leadership and ethics, training, and supervising implementers of behavior programs. Students also study experimental methodology used in the science and practice of ABA including experimental design, measurement, and data analysis.

Course Structure

In the online Applied Behavior Analysis program, students will develop competencies in key ABA focus areas, and complete a capstone project planned in consultation with a faculty advisor. Curriculum will cover:

Core applied behavior analysis coursework

Special education as a context for practice

Two semesters of job-embedded practicum

Curriculum and Coursework

The ABA master’s program is designed to prepare educational practitioners to apply principles of learning theory to improve the lives of families and children with disabilities. Through a combination of rigorous coursework modeled after on-campus courses, with the addition of online instructional design elements and job-embedded supervised fieldwork opportunities, the online ABA M.Ed. program will support the effective translation of research to practice for ABA professionals looking to jump start their career.
