Peabody college scholarships are awarded per credit hour of your tuition for professional study at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College of education and human development for campus-based students. The scholarship is for the academic program and start date mentioned in your admission letter, begins the first semester in which you enroll, and expires three years after your matriculation. Your scholarship will be credited to your student account at the beginning of each semester, including summers. No minimum enrollment is required; however, you will want to complete your program of study before the three-year award expires. This award will cover the minimum number of hours for your degree as stated in the University catalog with adjustment for any hours that are applied to your degree by transfer. Additionally, you must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all of your coursework to retain your scholarship. In the event you do not remain a student in good standing or you withdraw from courses after the official course drop date, the scholarship unfortunately must be withdrawn and you will be responsible for repayment of up to 100% of your tuition award for that semester.
Please note that this scholarship is not able to be combined with any other tuition award, except under the following circumstances. If you receive a George Award or if you receive an additional tuition award from Vanderbilt University, including a graduate assistantship that carries a tuition benefit, you will receive the higher of the two awards. If the assistantship provides a higher award then this scholarship will be forfeited. Example 1: Assistantship provides $1,250 per credit hour and this scholarship provides $1,000 per credit hour. This scholarship is forfeited and the assistantship rate will be awarded. Example 2: Assistantship provides $950 per credit hour and this scholarship provides $1,000 per credit hour, you can accept the assistantship in order to receive valuable experience and still receive a total of $1,000 per credit hour. In no circumstance can greater than 100% tuition be received. If you forfeit this scholarship because of a different tuition award, the scholarship can be reinstated if the other award ceases. Students who enroll in the master's program in the Department of Special Education need to consult with the program director for details and terms of scholarship funding received.
Please be aware that a Fulbright scholarship supersedes any Peabody award.
