Anna Weiss is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations. Her research interests include district and school leadership pipelines, teacher labor markets, and teacher working conditions. Her advisor is Jason Grissom.
Previously, Anna worked as a classroom teacher, teacher coach, and in central office administration in Philadelphia and in the California Bay Area. She has broad experience working closely with K-12 teachers and school leaders of varying levels of experience, across many grades and subject areas. She has also worked in a variety of school settings, including Title I, charter, and turnaround environments. Just prior to her time at Vanderbilt, she assisted in the rollout of Oakland Unified School District's teacher evaluation system.
Anna holds a bachelor's degree in English literature and Rhetoric from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master's degree in Urban Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
