Brenda McKenzie (she/her), a first-generation college student, has over 20 years of professional experience in higher education/student affairs in the areas of leadership development, orientation/new student programs, residence life, student activities, assessment, and fraternity and sorority life. Her teaching focuses on preparing emerging higher education professionals to be innovative leaders and change agents. Her research interests include college student leadership development/education, women and leadership, and socialization of new student affairs professionals. Current research initiatives include exploring the role of gender in the experiences of female-identified higher education leaders leading during crisis, and college student leadership identity development.
