Susan Kemper Patrick

Susan Kemper Patrick is a doctoral student and research assistant in the Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations at Vanderbilt University. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership and Policy and works with Dr. Ellen Goldring. Her research interests include school improvement and the school-based mechanisms shaping students’ educational opportunities and outcomes. She is also interested in how educational policies and practices may mitigate or exacerbate racial and socio-economic inequalities. Prior to her doctoral studies, she taught middle school reading and worked in youth-serving non-profits. She received a M.Ed. in Learning, Diversity, and Urban Studies from Vanderbilt University in 2010 and a B.A. in African and African-American Studies from Duke University in 2007.
