Peabody Application Overview

Graduate and Professional Admissions

Graduate and professional applications open in early August each year for the following academic year. (For example, applications for programs starting in the summer or fall of 2026 opened in early August 2025.) You can start an application at any time and go back to it over the course of days, weeks, or months. You don't need to have all of your materials ready to begin your application, and in fact we encourage you to take your time and review your application regularly.

Creating an Account

When you start an application, you will register with an email address. Please use an email address that you will continue to have access to through the potential start of your program. This will allow you to save your progress and login later to revisit your application.

You will then be emailed with a temporary PIN to login to your account and setup your password. Typically, this email comes within a few minutes, but in some cases can take up to 24 hours. You should check your spam and/or junk folders if you don't see this email arrive. If for some reason you don't receive the temporary PIN, you can use the 'forgot password' link to setup a password and login to your application account.

  • Can I apply to more than one program in the same application cycle?

Yes. You are allowed to submit two applications per cycle.

  • I’ve been out of school for a while – do I need an academic recommender?

We understand that you may not still have connections to faculty if it’s been several years since you were in your last degree program. If that’s the case, there’s no need to include an academic recommendation with your application. Simply choose recommenders who can speak to your work ethic, character, and goals for the program.

  • How should I choose my recommenders?

We encourage you to choose recommenders who know you well – both your past work (whether academic or professional/internship work or both) and who can speak to your ability to succeed at Peabody, and your future goals.

Applicants who are currently completing a degree program or who have recently completed a degree program are encouraged to include an academic recommender.

We also encourage you to have conversations with your recommenders - confirm their willingness to write a letter of recommendation on your behalf, and ensure they know why you're interested in attending our program, and note for them any highlights you might like them to reference in their letter.

  • Can I submit self-reported test scores with my application?

Yes, you can submit self-reported GRE scores with your application to Peabody. We will require official test score reports if you are admitted and choose to attend Peabody.

Frequently Asked Questions About Priority Decision at Vanderbilt Peabody College

  • What is Priority Decision?

All of our professional programs have two priority decision submission dates.

Priority Decision 1 applicants will get their decision back by early February, which allows students to begin applying to graduate student employment roles, access to all of our admitted student events, which begin in late February, and additional time to plan for your move to Nashville.

Priority Decision 2 applicants receive their responses by early March, along with access to the majority of admissions events, and considerable time to apply to graduate employment roles before beginning the transition to grad school.

  • What is Rolling Admissions?

Rolling Admissions is the period after Priority Decision rounds when applications are reviewed as they come in, or on a 'rolling' basis.

Students who apply after our Priority Decision 2 submission date are considered part of Rolling Admissions, and are still considered for admission and scholarships. Many programs accept students and award scholarships well into the spring and summer months - if you are considering applying to Peabody College and have missed our Priority Decision dates, we encourage you to apply as part of Rolling Admissions!

  • If I miss Priority Decision 1, should I still apply?

Yes! We have a second Priority Decision date (February 3 for most programs, January 3 for select programs - see Application Basics for more info) and rolling admissions. We highly encourage you to still submit an application, as most of our programs accept applications and award scholarship dollars even well into the summer months.

  • Does Peabody College have application deadlines?

Peabody College has Priority Decision submission dates, followed by Rolling Admissions. We review all completed applications, even if they are submitted after the Priority Decision 1 and 2 dates.

Students are still encouraged to submit their applications by the Priority Decision 1 and 2 dates so they receive admission decisions back in early spring, can attend admitted student events, apply for graduate student employment, and have ample time to plan for their grad student transition.

  • Is there a final deadline to apply to Peabody College?

There is no final deadline to apply to master's and Ed.D. programs at Peabody College. Any applications submitted after the Priority 2 Decision date will be considered Rolling Admissions, and will be reviewed once the application is complete.

The final deadline for Ph.D. applicants is December 1.
