Chao Zhang

China

Mr. Chao Zhang of China joins the Humphrey Fellowship as a college English teacher based in central China, with extensive experience in English language instruction and teacher development. Over the past several years, he has actively participated in both local and international organizations such as TESOL International Association, Global English Education China Assembly, and the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in China. Since 2021, Mr. Zhang has held leadership roles including serving as a member of the TESOL International Standards Professional Council and as Community Lead of the U.S. State Department’s Online Professional English Network (OPEN).

Mr. Zhang earned both his master’s degree in English Language and Literature (Translation Theory and Practices) and his bachelor’s degree in English from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan.

Through the Humphrey Fellowship, he aims to deepen his expertise in TESOL theory, language pedagogy, and technology integration. His professional goal is to establish a nationwide professional development platform for in-service English teachers in China, offering online training, in-person workshops, and adaptable resources tailored to local needs.
