This brief explores the experiences of Pre-K teachers in Tennessee during the 2021-22 school year. The 2022 Tennessee Educator Survey (TES) collected interviews from 881 Pre-K Teachers across the state. These results reveal several key trends about the Pre-K teacher experience in Tennessee, including how it compares to K-12 teachers in some instances.
Key Findings
- Pre-K teacher respondents reported being able to cover more of the formal curriculum than teachers in other grade levels.
- Pre-K teacher respondents reported feeling knowledgeable and confident about implementing their curriculum.
- In general, Pre-K teacher respondents reported that they feel positively about their professional learning experiences; however, the experiences that Pre-K teachers reported participating in most frequently, including professional development sessions or professional learning communities, were viewed as the least useful.
