Signature Programs

  • International Mentorship at Peabody (iMAP)

    The International Mentorship at Peabody (iMAP) program assists incoming international professional and graduate students in making a successful academic and personal transition to Peabody College and helps them acquire cultural knowledge, make new friends, and understand the campus resources available.

    The program matches new students ("mentees") with trained current students ("mentors") based on diverse backgrounds, interests, academics, and professional goals. New international students who participate in iMAP will engage with their mentors in various ways (e.g. virtual, in-person, group and one-on-one, zoom, emails, and texts, etc.) through workshops, social gatherings, or campus events, etc.

  • U.S. Education Concepts & Communication (USECC)

    The US Education Concepts & Communication (USECC) program is designed to support incoming students who have a first language other than English at Peabody with the language skills and cultural knowledge necessary to benefit more fully from their academic program. This program combines advanced-level language instruction with orientation and cultural activities.

    Program Objectives:

    • Understand educational concepts in the context of the U.S. educational system
    • Communicate effectively in presentations and discussions
    • Develop confidence in participating in graduate-level academic discourse
    • Explore and utilize educational research tools

    In addition, this course provides an important introduction to U.S. education history, social context, and policies, as well as information specific to studying at Peabody.

  • International Alumni Career Panel

    Peabody is dedicated to empowering international students to thrive in their career pathways through a variety of resources and events, including the annual International Alumni Career Panel. Hosted by Peabody Student Life and Peabody Career Services, this unique event welcomes back Peabody international alumni to share valuable insights on navigating the job search. A diverse group of alumni from various master’s programs will offer guidance on key topics such as job search timelines, application strategies, interview preparation, and overcoming challenges specific to international students. The panel highlights the strength of our global alumni network, providing students with not only advice but also the opportunity to connect with professionals who have successfully established careers around the world.

  • International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS)

    ISSS is the primary resource for non-immigrant students and scholars at Vanderbilt University. ISSS fosters the education and development of non-immigrant students and scholars to enable them to achieve their academic and professional goals and objectives. ISSS provides advice, counseling, resources, and advocacy regarding immigration, cross-cultural, and personal matters.

  • English Language Center (ELC)

    This center supports the university's internationalization, diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts through engaging English for Academic and Professional language instruction and targeted resources for international students, faculty, staff, and scholars who use English as an additional language. The ELC's goal is to help you achieve the most from your Vanderbilt experience by providing innovative, high quality, individualized English-language instruction.

  • International Tax Office (ITO)

    Vanderbilt’s International Tax Office is committed to the accurate taxation and reporting of payments to our foreign students, faculty, and other international visitors. We work hard to ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations, uphold institutional policies and support our campus community during their time with Vanderbilt.

  • Career Center - International Student Resources

    Peabody Career Services provides direct support for all international students at Peabody College through one-on-one advising tailored to their unique career needs. Additionally, the Vanderbilt Career Center offers a comprehensive list of employment-related resources specifically for international students. This includes information on pathways, networking tips, and internship and job search opportunities.

    A Global Vanderbilt is one way Vanderbilt's reach spans the globe and provides opportunities for its students, faculty and staff to engage and have a positive, long-lasting impact on the world through discovery and learning.

  • Global Education Office (GEO)

    GEO is the office that coordinates all study abroad programs. GEO is committed to preparing global citizens by providing innovative and high quality international learning experiences that build on Vanderbilt University's commitment to academic excellence, global engagement and community service.

  • Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health (VIGH)

    Vanderbilt University offers a graduate certificate in Global Health through VIGH. Graduate and professional students in all schools can register for VIGH courses through the School of Medicine. Upper-level undergraduate enrollment is subject to instructor approval.

  • Center for Latin American Studies (CLACX)

    CLACX is a research center at Vanderbilt University to stimulate research and teaching that examine the borders and intersections between Latinx, Latin American, and Caribbean Studies, enriching all through comparative and interdisciplinary perspectives. Vanderbilt University offers various graduate degree programs and certificates through CLACX.

  • The Department of Asian Studies

    The Department of Asian Studies at Vanderbilt engages students in broad and deep explorations of the languages, cultures, histories, and contemporary issues of Asia and the Asian diaspora in a global context. Vanderbilt University offers a graduate certificate in Asian studies.
