Welcome

Peabody International Students & Affairs (PISA) welcomes global citizens from around the world. As a part of the Peabody Dean's Office, PISA coordinates with international students, scholars, and partners to develop and sustain Peabody's global community. We are here to provide holistic support and advocacy for Peabody international students and scholars.

Signature Programs

  • International Mentorship at Peabody (iMAP)

    The International Mentorship at Peabody (iMAP) program assists new international professional and graduate students in making a successful academic and personal transition to Peabody College and helps them acquire cultural knowledge, make new friends, and understand the campus resources available.

    The program mixes and matches new students ("mentees") with trained current students ("mentors") based on diverse backgrounds, interests, academics, and professional goals. New international students who participate in iMAP will engage with their mentors in various ways (e.g. Virtual, in person, group and one-on-one, zoom, emails and texts, etc.) through workshops, social gatherings, or campus events, etc.

    Mentors:

    Qualifications

    • Must be a Current 1st-year PBD prof/grad student, will graduate in spring 2024 or later
    • Have great interpersonal communication skills to relate to a diverse group with strong intercultural understanding and global engagement.
    • Possess knowledge regarding campus and community resources to share with mentees.

    Commitments

    • Attend mandatory training and other required program events.
    • Communicate regularly and effectively with mentees via social media, email, and/or text, Brightspace throughout mentees' summer and first semester.
    • Assist with the event planning and in the next spring admission.

  • U.S. Education Concepts & Communication (USECC)

    The US Education Concepts & Communication (USECC) program is designed to support incoming students who have a first language other than English at Peabody with the language skills and cultural knowledge necessary to benefit more fully from their academic program. This program combines advanced-level language instruction with orientation and cultural activities.

    Program Objectives:

    • Understand educational concepts in the context of the U.S. educational system
    • Communicate effectively in presentations and discussions
    • Develop confidence in participating in graduate-level academic discourse
    • Explore and utilize educational research tools

    In addition, this course provides an important introduction to U.S. education history, social context, and policies, as well as information specific to studying at Peabody.

Immunization Requirements

All incoming students are required to submit immunization records and tuberculosis (TB) information in order to register for classes prior to coming to Vanderbilt.  

VUNet ID Information

Your Vanderbilt User Account (your VUnetID) will be used to access student services, including class registration, access to academic information, and Vanderbilt email. 

You will need to complete the VUnetID registration process to obtain your credentials. The University Registrar will begin the process by sending an email to your personal email account about ten business days following payment of your enrollment deposit with further instructions. If you do not receive a message from the University Registrar about the VUnetID process, and you are not currently a student or an employee of Vanderbilt, please email Peabody Graduate Admissions (peabody.admissions@vanderbilt.edu).

International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS)

ISSS is the primary resource for non-immigrant students and scholars at Vanderbilt University. ISSS fosters the education and development of non-immigrant students and scholars to enable them to achieve their academic and professional goals and objectives. ISSS provides advice, counseling, resources, and advocacy regarding immigration, cross-cultural, and personal matters.

Global@Vanderbilt

Global@Vanderbilt is one way Vanderbilt's reach spans the globe and provides opportunities for its students, faculty and staff to engage and have a positive, long-lasting impact on the world through discovery and learning.

Vanderbilt Institute for Global Health (VIGH)

Vanderbilt University offers a graduate certificate in Global Health through VIGH. Graduate and professional students in all schools can register for VIGH courses through the School of Medicine. Upper-level undergraduate enrollment is subject to instructor approval.

Global Education Office (GEO)

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Office

The EDI Office endeavors to help make Vanderbilt University a leading learning institution where achieving equity, diversity, and inclusion are its highest priorities as it trains global citizens who will contribute to the development of a better nation and world. The "resources" tab on the  EDI website has especially helpful information for international students.

Center for Student Wellbeing

The mission of this center is to create a culture that supports the personal development and academic success of students using an integrative, holistic framework.

Center for Latin American Studies (CLACX)

With CLACX, learn about specific cultures in various contexts and from different perspectives. There are great opportunities for international students to engage in cultural activities and get to know people who share the same cultural background and research interests.

English Language Center

This center supports the university's internationalization, diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts through engaging English for Academic and Professional language instruction and targeted resources for international students, faculty, staff, and scholars who use English as an additional language. The ELC's goal is to help you achieve the most from your Vanderbilt experience by providing innovative, high quality, individualized English-language instruction.

Writing Studio

At the Writing Studio, you have the opportunity to meet individually with trained consultants to talk about any writing project or concern. Our services are free and confidential for any member of Vanderbilt's scholarly community.

Peabody Library

The student support and student services from the Peabody Library are extremely helpful. Whenever you have any questions on research, you can make an appointment with a librarian. Also, you can use their helpful research guides organized by subject.

IT Help Desk
If you run into any technical issues, you can request tech support from Vanderbilt IT Help Desk. They're offering general tech support, BrightSpace assistance, Zoom assistance, and Remote work assistance, etc. Click "I Need Help," fill out an IT ticket, and an IT expert will reach out to you to save the day.
