Shirley H. Xu

Shirley Xu is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations at Vanderbilt University. Her research interests broadly include policy implementation, teacher racial and ethnic diversity, and immigrant student experiences and outcomes.

Prior to entering the doctoral program, Shirley served as a public high school English teacher in Houston, TX, teaching tenth-grade ESL and English, AP Literature and Composition, and twelfth-grade English. In this role, she also served on district curriculum-writing committees. She received her B.A. in English and ELA 7-12 teaching certification from Rice University.
