Diamond Grigsby

Class of 2018

“It is nice to see Diamond come in and take pride in every day she has to work with us. She puts a smile on all the soccer players’ faces she works with.” – Sara Melby, VU Athletic Trainer

Diamond graduated from Next Steps at Vanderbilt in 2018, where she was able to individualize her experience by taking courses in health and service delivery, especially for people with disabilities. Three of her biggest influences at Vanderbilt were Dr. Sharon Shields (Professor), Candice Storey Lee (Associate Vice Chancellor- Athletics), and Sara Melby (Athletic Trainer). Diamond stays in touch with her college friends despite her busy schedule as a Breakfast Attendant with Embassy Suites.

“Having Diamond in our class was wonderful in many ways. The students developed relationships with her outside of class, and they supported her in class. The biggest impact was seeing that someone with a ‘disability’ was in many ways just like them. It was awesome.”
