Megan McCormick

Megan’s research focuses on young people’s resistance to exclusion from civic life and public space. She engages participatory, qualitative, and place-based approaches to explore youth relationships with their neighborhoods, schools, and third places, and her dissertation project will use geospatial methods to explore young people’s imagined futures in the city of Nashville. The project will explore youth perceptions of the city space alongside dynamics of housing affordability and real estate development, seeking to make meaning of youth experiences in an urban context experiencing rapid and uneven development. Megan is an interdisciplinary scholar, and her work engages most closely with urban studies, childhood and youth studies, and community geography.
